The folks at Plain Mary sent me a little package last week in hopes of getting some mommyblogging love. I laughed out loud when I opened up one of the most beautiful changing pads I’ve ever seen…green microsuede with a lovely paisley lining…there was no way this could pass muster with me. I’m a sucker for designer clothes, but when it comes to changing Carter (nicknamed “The Pooper” for a very good reason), I knew I’d never be able to give this one a thumbs up. He’d soil that green suede faster than you can say “sweet potato” (ironically, what he’d had for dinner before his first change on the pad) and it would never be the same.
I was partially right. Carter did get poopy on the changing pad and it did create a nice orange-ish stain. But the stain came out! In one washing! And the green suede washed up beautifully. The picture here is post-washing, and it looks as good as new. Adorable and functional–and at $50 per pad, it needs to be.
In addition to the changing pads, Plain Mary has lots of other accessories including bibs, playmats, and burp cloths. It also carries an amazing line of modern crib furniture and very cool crib bedding.
This is not a line for the bargain shoppers. Plain Mary is sold at Petit Tresor, the famous Beverly Hills baby store that has outfitted J. Lo and Christina Aguilera’s nurseries. (It’s also available online.) But if you’re looking for a unique gift that is as functional as it is pretty, Plain Mary is a great source. I’m already picking out a gift for my good friend (and loyal reader) Emily, who is due in 7 weeks!
